The mood of the room is being set by Richard Pryor banging away on the custom-designed piano, and cracking a few jokes to help loosen up the crowd. Everyone is anxiously waiting for the bluesy vocal sounds of Diana Ross. Who takes a minute and sits by Richard’s side, taking in all the energy and love the people send her way.

Back on the farm, Angie takes a moment from working in her art studio to finish the work her neighbor started by the roadside. As she works, inspiration hits her from the colors of the sky and the glistening light in the valley. She moves vigorously as the warmth of the day surrounds her, cleaning up the last section of the roadside. With a head full of ideas, she can’t wait to be back in the studio creating a new piece of art.

Thelonious Monk Fine Art Print

This is one of those legendary jazz men that I had to paint. Thelonious Monk was a giant in the jazz world but not as often thought about as some of the more common names. The interplay between the warm and cool colors of reds and blues makes this a very electrifying painting. I gave the great man a noble stance, and placed analogous colors all over his face while bringing a few warm rhythms to his beard, mustache and glasses. This interplay worked well against the contemporary bold abstract background. I finished the painting off with a harmonizing calligraphy monogram of his name, Monk.
